get out of town

September 5, 2013

I know for the most part everyone is done with their summer traveling and vacations, so it may be a little late to be sharing a food + shopping guide. However, my weekend trip to Austin over Labor day has me dreaming about food and the great shopping so I just had to share some of my favorites with you. Austin is such a fun town, from the lake to downtown – there is so much to do you need more than a weekend to experience it all. Here are a few of my Austin favorites ::

where to eat :: pictured above clockwise – hopdoddy, la condessa, max’s wine dive, mozarts

Hopdoddy – This Austin hot spot is my favorite place to get a burger while visiting. They source their food from local farmers, and use only the best. Get the truffle fries. You won’t be disappointed.

La Condessa – Modern Mexcian food doesn’t get any better than this. It also doesn’t hurt that the margaritas are amazing, and it sits on a great spot on 2nd street.

Max’s Wine Dive – Oh my fried chicken. I’ve never been crazy about fried chicken or collard greens, but I am still thinking about the meal we had here on Sunday evening. Delicious is an understatement.

Mozart’s – After you have dined head over to Mozart’s on the lake for dessert and a gorgeous view. Yes, there are a lot of students there with laptops, but the chilled out environment is a perfect ending to an Austin day.

Other great restaurants to try in Austin : uchi + uchiko, blue dahlia, perla’s, eddie v’s, the salt lick, amy’s ice cream, moonshine, gloria’s, trace at the w

where to shop :: pictured above clockwise – teddies for bettys, by george, luxe apothetique, estilo

Teddies for Bettys – Another great spot on 2nd street, this designer lingerie boutique is a must stop while you are in Austin. Not only is just a really fun environment, these girls know their stuff when it comes to lingerie.

ByGeorge – An Austin shopping staple, ByGeorge is is such a fun place to peruse while you are out shopping. They carry lines like Celine, Lanvin, The Row, Joie, Elizabeth & James, and much, much more.

Luxe Apothetique – A spa and boutique in one? Yes, please. Such a fun store to browse and shop their trendy lines, as well as stop in at the spa.

Estilo – Another fabulous stop while on 2nd street, Estilo is a great place to find pieces that you won’t get anywhere else. Guys, they didn’t leave yall out here either.

Other great places to shop while in Austin : stag, moss, gallery d, spring frost, c. jane, y&i, dress shop, valentines toosan marcos outlets (best outlet mall ever – my favorites out there are dvf, tory, mk, lulu lemon, j.crew), the domain (you’ll find your neimans, mk, louis vuitton, tiffanies, etc.)

If yall have another restaurants or shops that I forgot to mention, please let me know! We’ll do a food + shopping guide on another city soon!
